An introductory program for youth and their families, as well as adults. Learn the basics of freshwater fishing, including angling ethics, tackle selection, and fishing and casting techniques. Lessons are held at our visitor centre fishing ponds and at lakes in municipal and provincial parks throughout the province. All equipment is provided and every session includes hands on fishing time.

Public Learn to Fish programs are paused until the spring. However, we are still taking a limited number of birthday party, school and private group bookings at our Fraser Valley Trout Hatchery. Join the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC & the Richmond Library for this 2-hour session where you will learn about hatchery roles, fish identification, proper fish handling, tackle, rod rigging and casting, followed by hands on fishing at the River!
Rods and tackle will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own equipment.
Personal Flotation Devices (PFD) are not required and will not be provided. If you would like to have one for the program, please bring your own.
We will be meeting on-site at No. 2 Road Fishing Pier in London Wharf Park (AKA: London’s Landing).
