Announcing the Winners of the 2025 Go Fish BC Photo Contest

Submissions are closed, the votes are tallied, and we’re thrilled to announce the winners of the 2025 Go Fish BC Photo Contest!

At the end of October, our contest officially closed, and we were absolutely flooded with outstanding submissions across our three categories: Fishing Landscapes, Fishing Buddies, and Fishing Firsts. Narrowing down the field to just six winners from so many excellent photos was a tough, tough task—a true testament to the passion and talent of B.C.’s angling community.

A massive thank you to everyone who shared their incredible memories, breathtaking scenery, and heartwarming moments with us. Each photo told a unique story of why fishing in British Columbia is so special.

Meet Our Six Winners

We are excited to congratulate the six winners, who each receive a well-deserved prize!

You can view the winning shots below, along with our honourable mentions that captured our hearts and made the selection process so difficult.

Category 1: Fishing Landscapes

We asked for images that showcase B.C.’s stunning natural landscapes and freshwater fishing opportunities.

1st Place. David Herb. “This photo was taken on an amazing summer road trip spent chasing cutthroat trout on the fly in B.C., from the Elk River in Fernie, up to the high alpine lakes of Mount Assiniboine.”

2nd Place. Glenn Gerbrandt. “Wildfire smoke didn’t stop the fishermen from fishing nor the fish from biting at this small Cariboo lake east of Prince George.”

Category 2: Fishing Buddies

For photos of your fishing buddy, whether it be a family member, friend, or pet.

1st Place. Chris Cain. “This is my wife and daughter sharing a precious moment as a fish grabbed the hook at Denis Lake.”

2nd Place. Joe Keno. “Troy and Avery, fishing buddies.”

Category 3: Fishing Firsts

We asked for photos of a first fishing moment. This can be an image of a first fish ever caught, first fish of the season, first time ice fishing, first time fishing a new location. There’s a first time for everything!

1st Place. Aaron Heath. “My seven-year-old daughter Elowyn’s first big trout.”

2nd Place. Katherine Mulski. “As an educator for a fly-fishing program for teens, I find it so rewarding when students finally get to connect with fish! This particular student had been in the program before and was working hard to put their newly tied flies to work during a recent fish out for Coho Jacks and Trout. Success was achieved and his face says it all!”
