The 2024 Go Fish BC Photo Contest closed at the end of September. This year, we asked for photos of fishing landscapes; fishing buddies; and anglers’ fishing firsts. Selecting only six winners from so many excellent submissions was a tough task.
Thank you to everyone who entered, and congratulations to the winners, who each receive a prize. You can view the winning shots below, along with our honourable mentions.
Follow our Instagram and Facebook account where we’ll also be featuring the winners, along with some of our other favourite photos throughout the year.
Category 1: Fishing Landscapes
We asked for images that showcase B.C.’s stunning natural landscapes and freshwater fishing opportunities.
1st Place: Brayden Rastad. “Got up for sunrise on the Fraser River hoping for a pre-work bite.”
2nd Place: Chris Buxton. “A special spot on the Chilliwack River, early morning, early September.”
Category 2: Fishing Buddies
For photos of your fishing buddy, whether it be a family member, friend, or pet.
1st Place: Kim Turgeon. “A day exploring the holes along the Findlay Creek, Canal Flats area, B.C.”
2nd Place. Samir Das. “In the early morning, two friends cast their lines into Big Bar Lake in the Cariboo region.”
Category 3: Fishing Firsts
We asked for photos of a first fishing moment. This can be an image of a first fish ever caught, first fish of the season, first time ice fishing, first time fishing a new location. There’s a first time for everything!
1st Place. Nichole Novelas. “My first King Chinook.”
2nd Place. Jennifer Barrett. “First fish over 10 pounds.”
