2020 Go Fish BC Photo Contest

Did you have an amazing summer of fishing in 2020? Share your photos of fishing in BC and go in the running to win cash prizes!


  1. Luck on the Lake – for photos of anglers in action on lakes in B.C. 
  2. Rewards of the River – for photos of anglers and fishing featuring rivers in B.C.
  3. BC Fishing Moments – for photos of fish, insect hatches, fishing tackle, scenic shots, or great family moments fishing and enjoying the outdoors. 
Note: We'd love to see anglers practising boat safety and wearing PFDs where possible. 


For each category, the following cash prizes will be awarded:

1st Prize: $300
2nd Prize: $150
3rd Prize: $75

Terms and Conditions

The 2020 Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC “Go Fish BC Photo Contest” (the “Contest”) ends October 31, 2020, 11:59 P.M. Pacific Time. Winners will be notified by November 9, 2020. Winning photographs will also be announced on our website,, and in our e-newsletter. Prize cheques will be mailed or electronically transferred no later than December 30, 2020. 

Who May Enter
No purchase necessary. Contest is open to legal residents of Canada, except residents of Quebec, who have reached the age of majority at the time of entry. Employees or affiliates of the Freshwater Fisheries Society and their immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where they live) or persons living in the same households of such employees, whether or not related, are not eligible.

How to Enter
Complete the required fields in the form on this webpage and submit. Contact us at if you are having problems submitting your photo or would like to arrange an alternate way to submit your photo.

You may submit three photos in each category. However, photographers will not be awarded more than one prize.  Each entry must comply with the following requirements:

- Photographs must be in digital format. All digital files must be 5 megabytes or smaller, must be in .jpg, .png,  format.
- Photographs must have been taken within two (2) years before the date of entry.
‚Äč- All winners will be required to submit a high resolution version of the image.
- Photos must not be of an offensive nature, nor not contain illegal acts in them.

By submitting a photo(s), you agree that any person(s) in the photo(s) have provided their consent in allowing their picture to be entered into the Contest. Failure to obtain such consent will deem the entry ineligible. Upon request, each entrant must be prepared to provide (within seven (7) calendar days of receipt of request) a signed release from all persons who appear in the photograph submitted. If any person appearing in any photograph is under the age of majority in their province/territory of residence the signature of a parent or legal guardian is required on each release.

Use of Photos and Information
By entering and participating in the Contest, you consent to the use of your photograph by the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC (Contest Administrators) for promotional use during or after the Contest closing date, without compensation. Of course, photo credits will be given wherever possible.

The Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC collects personal information for the sole purpose of the Contest and will not send any additional marketing or communications to the entrant without their explicit permission to do so.

By submitting a photo(s), you agree that you own all copyrights in the photograph. You represent and warrant that photographs have not been copied in whole or in part from any other work, do not violate or infringe any copyright, moral right, trademark or other proprietary right of any person or entity, and are, together with the copyright and moral rights therein, the sole and exclusive property of the entrant.

Selection of Winners
All winners will be selected on the basis of skill and creativity as determined by a panel of contest judges. This Contest is based on photography skills alone and not subject to random draw or any other element of chance. If a winner cannot be contacted within one week (7 days) or a winner refuses the prize, the prize will be awarded to the next runner-up.

The Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC and its advertising and promotion agencies are not responsible for late, lost, misdirected, or delayed entries.

The Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC reserves the right to terminate or suspend or to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time and in any way, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever. Entrants participating in the Contest acknowledge that they have read and understood the Terms and Conditions.
