About the Fraser Valley Trout Hatchery
The Fraser Valley Trout Hatchery stocks over 860,000 fish into over 150 lakes and streams throughout BC. These fish include native rainbow trout, catchable rainbow trout, steelhead, anadromous cutthroat trout, and coastal cutthroat trout.
The existing site was built in 1977 using recycled technology—one of the first recycle systems in hatcheries. Water for the site is supplied by four wells which draw from the Abbotsford aquifer.
The Visitor Centre
The Visitor Centre is open to the public for self-guided and guided tours of our live fish aquariums and interactive displays. Take a self-guided journey through a living stream and watch a movie on freshwater fish and their habitat. Register for our tremendously popular Learn to Fish program, fishing birthday party, summer camp, or one of our educational school programs.
